My Background

Bio picture.jpg

I began my training in a multitude of complimentary therapies and Reiki in 2003. I have a BA in Integrated Counselling and Psychotherapy and I am an accredited member of the Irish Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy (IACP). I am trained in WRAP - Wellness Recovery Action Plan; this can be very useful when working with individuals in crisis. It can help identify triggers, explore early warning signs, develop a personalised self-care toolbox and if necessary, create a crisis plan that is unique to every individual’s needs. I’ve completed additional training in mindfulness, spirituality, self-care, inner child work, relationship counselling, equality, diversity, and inclusion. I combine all my training to work holistically and adopt a mind body spirit approach to my therapy.

I have worked in two long established professional counselling practices, and I also work privately with clients in person and online. I have experience working with abuse, addiction, agoraphobia, anxiety, bereavement, complicated grief, depression, family/relationship issues, infertility, loss, neurodiversity issues, panic attacks, self-esteem issues, self-harm behaviours, serious illness, stress, and suicide.

My philosophy is that every individual has three distinctive aspects: a mind, body, and spirit. I believe that deep healing occurs when you reunite mind-body-spirit to their optimum state. My work is rooted in the premise that you are the expert in your own life and psychotherapy enables you to connect with your authentic self and find your own answers. I believe that when you experience a crisis or life changing event, you discover who you truly are. It is in the discomfort that you learn the most about yourself and experience the optimal opportunity for growth.

My Approach

I provide a safe, confidential, and non-judgemental space that will help you explore your problems in a private and peaceful setting. My priority is to create a genuine, authentic, supportive relationship with each client, that is built on trust and mutual respect. In my experience, this creates the optimal conditions for change, growth, and personal development.

At the core of my counselling work is a person-centred approach combined with many other theoretical models such as Choice Theory, Reality Therapy, Logotherapy, Transactional Analysis and dream work based on Jung’s teachings.

I can help you explore painful or uncomfortable experiences so that you can move beyond them. Anyone who has experienced trauma and pain knows that it is desirable to run away from and suppress these intense feelings and experiences. However, trauma changes us at a cellular level, we store it in our bodies. If you want to be free of it, you need to explore it. Ignoring your pain only delays your freedom from it. Having the courage to explore painful memories and working through these feelings brings about a deeper understanding of oneself. It can help you find the meaning in your pain. To feel is to heal.

You are the expert in your life, my role is to work with you to find the answers within. It is an honour and a privilege to do this work. I have the deepest respect for anyone who has the courage to look within and discover who they truly are.

In psychological work we are changed, in spiritual work we are revealed. We manifest our inner wholeness into conscious daily life
